HOMES AREN'T HOTELS
Over the summer, I have heard directly from residents about the impact of short-term lets on their communities, with the work of the Short-Term Lets Commission.
In this process, I have reported dozens of short-term lets to local authorities and platforms for breaching the 90-day rule, being illegally sublet, or associated with anti-social behaviour.
I support the Government’s actions in starting a registration scheme which will for the first time gather crucial data on every short-term let in England.
I believe this scheme should be trialled in the City of Westminster and City of London, as the local authorities with some of the most short-term lets of any in the country. If it can work here, it can work anywhere.
Join me in calling for the Government to trial the short-term lets register in the City of Westminster and City of London. Homes are not hotels, and the fight to address the nuisance and damage of short-term lets must start here.
